Not Your Average Bloody Larry

We're big football people in my family, whether it's College Game Day or Sundays spent watching Falcons, football means Bloodys! My mom is the chef in our family (and the best one I know), but my dad mans the bar. Somewhere along the lines my dads famous Bloody Mary transformed into the Bloody Larry!

My parents would come visit me in college and all my friends had one request: Bring a batch of Bloody Larrys! So I sat down with him to learn jusssst the right amount of sauce and spices to make the PERFECT base. You'll need:

- Clamato Juice

- Franks Red Hot Sauce

- Horseradish

- Worcestershire Sauce

- Lemons & Limes

- Vodka

- Clamato Rimmer*** (the key here)

- Any pickled veggies for garnish

This recipe yields enough for a large pitcher (roughly 8-10 servings depending on size). Pour the Clamato juice into a larger pitcher so you can mix all the ingredients evenly. Then, once you get it all mixed up, you can pour back into the jug for easy transport (perfect for tailgating)! I usually let people add their own vodka to taste.

Add 4 tbsp of hot sauce and 4 tbsp of Worcester and stir. Squeeze the juice of one lemon or lime - I typically prefer lemon, but personal preference here. Add 1 tbsp of prepared horseradish (keep in mind that this is enough for a large batch and we started with a very bland base), but if you don't like spice/heat, I would do a little less.

The secret ingredient in the Bloody Larry is the Clamato Rimmer. This has all those tasty herbs and spices that give it the best flavor! A few shakes of this right into the mix makes the whole cocktail!

Line the rim with a lemon or lime and use kosher salt or a mixture of salt and the Rimmer mix. Add ice, vodka and tomato base to the glass. Top with any and all of the above garnishes. At any given time I have a bizarre amount of pickled veggies in my fridge, so in addition to the traditional celery, lemon and lime, I add pickle spears, green beans, asparagus and okra (the pickled carrot was a trial....not suggested) and there you have it, the Bloody Larry - Enjoy!

Need a dip to take to a tailgate or party? Check out my favorite appetizer, Hoagie Dip!
